NPPY Founder Applauds President Tinubu’s Statesmanship in Ending Rivers Emergency Rule

The Founder and Convener of the National Progressive Platform for Youths (NPPY), Amb. Adedamola Rasak Kazeem, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for demonstrating true statesmanship by lifting the six-month emergency rule imposed on Rivers State.

In a statement made available to StarNigeriaNews.com, Kazeem described the President’s decision as “a courageous step towards peace, stability, and democratic governance in Rivers State.” He noted that the resolution of the political crisis that engulfed the state had restored hope to the people of Rivers and confidence in Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

President Tinubu, on Wednesday, announced the official cessation of the emergency rule that was declared on March 18, 2025, following months of political tension in the oil-rich state.

According to the Presidency’s statement, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, Speaker Martins Amaewhule, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly are to resume duties effective Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Reacting to the development, Amb. Kazeem commended the President for not only addressing the root causes of the crisis but also for ensuring that constitutional order is upheld. “This singular decision has once again reaffirmed President Tinubu’s commitment to preserving Nigeria’s unity and strengthening democratic values. It also sends a clear message that dialogue, reconciliation, and political inclusiveness remain the best pathways to resolving national challenges,” he said.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara is expected to resume official duties immediately, bringing relief to residents of Rivers State after half a year of emergency governance.

The NPPY leader further called on political stakeholders in Rivers to embrace peace, unity, and development in the interest of the people.
