The state of the Nigerian nation is perplexing and often challenging to comprehend. Absurdities are embraced in society, where misconduct is not only overlooked but also rewarded with official recognition.

Despite laws designed for order, Nigeria operates in a topsy-turvy manner, with little regard for consequences. Judges, policemen, lawyers, politicians, security personnel, and citizens alike disregard the country’s laws, as there are rarely repercussions for misbehavior.

The downtrodden, lacking influential connections, fear the laws, making stealing a goat riskier than embezzling billions. Nigeria stands as a country of absurdities, where politicians boast about manipulating court judgments without facing consequences. Even during elections, some lawyers engage in electoral malpractices without being held accountable, raising questions about the nation’s values.

Institutions meant for justice are tainted by injustice, as leadership tolerates misconduct without imposing consequences. The prevalence of indiscipline and corruption hinders societal progress. Trust in institutions has eroded, with compromise infiltrating even those established to combat corruption. The prevailing sense is one of hopelessness, where abnormality is seen as the path to fame and power.

Nigeria appears orphaned, left without support, as those in charge exhibit confusion. Ideas for positive change lack the power to implement, while those who can’t bring about positive change assert themselves. A plea is made to return to the true rule of law, punishing violators accordingly.

Without embracing genuine democracy built on the rule of law, development will continue to elude Nigeria. The ominous trajectory of democracy in Nigeria, manipulated by politicians, necessitates a collective stand by Nigerians to defend democracy and uphold the rule of law for the country’s growth and development.
