By Olalekan Efficient

In recent days, the media landscape has witnessed unfortunate opposition to the peace initiatives spearheaded by ALGON Chairman, Otunba Awotunde, aimed at resolving the crisis of who become the next Akinrun, in light of the pressing need for peace, It is disheartening to see certain individuals, whose modus operandi thrives on sowing division, disguise their intentions under the guise of offering unsolicited advice to the Gboleru ruling house. However, their attempt to undermine the collective wisdom of the ruling house and the people of the land must not go unaddressed. While some may attempt to distort facts to confuse the populace, it is imperative to ensure that truth prevails over falsehood.

The disruption of the rotational order as outlined in the Chieftaincy declaration by the Obaara ruling house is deeply regrettable. Therefore, any efforts to resolve the confusion and turmoil in Ikirunland should not be met with resistance from the house. It would be unacceptable for individuals or groups to reject the recommendations set forth in the white paper by Osun State Government led Gov Ademola Adeleke. Embracing peace initiatives is essential for the well-being of everybody in Ikirun Land, and all endeavors aimed at promoting peace deserve unwavering support.

Of particular concern is the Obaara’s divergence from the committee’s efforts towards peace. Insisting solely on their own viewpoints without considering the perspective of the Gboleru ruling house will only hinder genuine reconciliation. It is time for conflicting parties to lay down their arms and embrace peace. No sacrifice is too great for the betterment of Ikirunland.

It is crucial to recall the principle of providence, as exemplified by Atunbotan, and its attendant consequences. This moment in Ikirun calls for decisive action to either perpetuate the current confusion or put an end to it. The primary focus for major stakeholders should be rectifying past wrongs and ending injustice. Injustice to one member of the community affects all. The Obaara should not feel complacent benefiting from injustice. Any attempts to submerge identity in politics and injustice must not be tolerated. While the Obaara may currently feel secure in usurping the Gboleru Ruling House, such actions are fleeting and only serve to sow seed of discord and to further add fuel to existing fire.

Above all, it is essential to remember that actions have consequences, and there is no justification for compromising genuine peace and reconciliation.

In light of these challenges, it is essential to adopt a new approach that fosters constructive dialogue and mutual understanding. By engaging in round table discussions where all parties willingly contribute their perspectives and demonstrate a willingness to listen, viable solutions can be reached. Any opposition to such peaceful resolutions only serves to hinder progress and must be unequivocally condemned.

We commend the wisdom of Otunba Awotunde and all stakeholders committed to justice and peace. However, it is crucial that the outcomes of these peace meetings uphold truth, reconciliation, and peaceful coexistence. Peace cannot flourish in the absence of justice, and therefore, the integrity of the process must remain sacrosanct.

Furthermore, it is imperative to acknowledge and appreciate the individuals of honor and integrity within Ikirunland who have remained steadfast in their commitment to truth and justice. Their unwavering dedication serves as a beacon of hope and inspires confidence in the success of peace initiatives.

Rather than inciting discord, it is time for all members of the community to take responsibility for building a lasting peace. Only through collective sacrifice and unwavering commitment to truth and justice can Ikirunland achieve its aspirations for growth and development.

In conclusion, let us remember the words: “Ikirun o ni ba je o” – Ikirun shall not fall. Let us stand united in our pursuit of peace and progress for the betterment of our beloved community.
