In a display of dedication and service, Hon. Baruwa Sulaimon Olalekan, a member of the 7th Legislative Assembly of Kosofe Local Government and Chairman of the House Committee on Education and Library Services, has facilitated numerous infrastructure projects and community support initiatives since July 2021. His efforts have significantly improved the living conditions and infrastructure within the community, highlighting his commitment to the development of Kosofe.
Infrastructure Developments: Roads and Boreholes
Hon. Baruwa’s tenure has seen the completion of several vital road projects, addressing long-standing transportation issues in the area. The roads completed include Abayomi Odubela Street, Niyi Oguneye Street, Alhaji Amoo Street, and Rialto Close by Alhaji Amoo Street. These projects have greatly enhanced connectivity and accessibility within the community.
Looking ahead, Hon. Baruwa has announced that work will soon commence on Musa Adewokun Street and Roju Avenue, with Taiwo Street also under consideration. These projects are expected to further improve the infrastructure and quality of life for residents.
In addition to road construction, Hon. Baruwa has overseen the completion of borehole projects to ensure access to clean water. Boreholes at Aina Street and Vitoria Street have been completed, with plans for additional boreholes at Niyi Oguneye, Musa Adewokun, and Fadayomi streets set to commence soon.
Drainage Systems
To combat flooding and improve sanitation, Hon. Baruwa has facilitated the construction and clearing of drainage systems across the community. Completed drainage projects include Musa Adewokun (left and right), Niyi Oguneye (left and right), Abayomi Odubela (left and right), and Biola Fadayomi (left and right). These efforts are crucial in maintaining the infrastructure and preventing waterlogging during the rainy season.
Community Financial Assistance
Demonstrating a deep commitment to community welfare, Hon. Baruwa has provided significant financial assistance to various groups and individuals. Notably, he allocated one million naira to the Binukonu Market in Ojota to alleviate debt owed to Ikeja Electricity, ensuring uninterrupted power supply for traders. Additionally, a financial grant of 250 thousand naira was given to Alebi/Olatunji CDA for the construction of a community gate.
Hon. Baruwa has also extended financial support to various Community Development Associations (CDAs) and individuals within the Ojota community, addressing diverse needs and fostering community spirit.
