

Lagos, Nigeria – Olayiwola Awakan, a distinguished journalist, poet, actor, and mediapreneur, shared the inspiration behind his latest project, the stage play “Abibatu Mogaji,” during an appearance on the weekly current affairs program “Saturday Special with Mogaji Oladigbo Olalekan Efficient” on TungbaFM Network. The play aims to celebrate the life and legacy of President Bola Tinubu’s mother, Abibatu Mogaji, and inform the younger generation about her significant contributions to Nigeria’s development.
Awakan highlighted that the stage play is not only a tribute to Abibatu Mogaji’s impactful life but also an educational endeavor to ensure her contributions are remembered and appreciated by future generations. “Abibatu Mogaji was a pivotal figure in Nigeria’s development,” Awakan stated. “Through this play, we hope to eulogize her achievements and inspire the new generation with her story.”
The stage play “Abibatu Mogaji” is scheduled to be launched on July 9, 2024, at the Conference Center in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, with President Bola Tinubu attending as the special guest of honor. The event will commence at 4 PM. Following this, another performance will take place on July 11, 2024, at the NAF Centre in Abuja at 5 PM. The Lagos performance is set for July 14, 2024, at the Glovers Memorial Hall on Lagos Island, with tickets priced at five thousand naira each. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is expected to be the special guest at the Lagos event.
The play is written and directed by the renowned Professor Ahmed Yerima and produced by Olayiwola Awakan. Awakan expressed his excitement about the collaboration and the upcoming performances, emphasizing the importance of celebrating national icons like Abibatu Mogaji.
