In a grand ceremony marked by pomp and pageantry, HRM Oba Cornelius Abiola Taiwo Oladokun, the newly crowned Alaawe of Awe Land, received his Staff of Office from the Oyo State Government. The event, held in Awe town, drew dignitaries and well-wishers from far and wide, celebrating a significant milestone in the town’s history.
Among the notable attendees was Amb. Oladele Simeon Adewale (OASIS, IYANIWURA) of Lakanla’s Compound, Awe, a distinguished Chartered Accountant, philanthropist, and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State. In his remarks to Star Nigeria News correspondents, Adewale expressed his heartfelt eulogies for Oba Oladokun, heralding the monarch’s ascension as a new chapter of prosperity and development for Awe.
“Today marks a significant moment in our town’s history. The coronation of Kabiesi, HRM Oba Cornelius Abiola Taiwo Oladokun, promises a future filled with progress and good deeds,” Adewale stated. “I pray for God to grant him long life and the wisdom to lead our people with grace and vision.”
Oba Cornelius Abiola Taiwo Oladokun, born on January 24, 1949, into the Alaawe Oladokun Dynasty in Awe, is the son of the late Pa Samuel Oguntunde Taiwo and the late Madam Sabainah Ojesola Taiwo (née Olojede) of the Oonsa Opaleke compound. The new monarch boasts an impressive career and educational background, being a Fellow of the Association of Certified Accountants, London, and a Fellow (FCA) of the Institutes of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
Oba Oladokun’s professional journey includes significant stints at various reputable organizations. He worked with Madilas Motors between 1967 to 1969, Glaxo Nigeria Ltd from 1969 to 1973, and Metal Box Toyo Ltd Agbara from 1972 to 1991. His experience and dedication to excellence have earned him a respected place in the community and beyond.
