Hon Niniola Adegoke, Special Assistant on Youth and Special Duties to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, RT Hon Mudashiru Obasa, has confirmed that the Speaker has fully resumed his duties with the overwhelming support of the majority of the House members. Hon Adegoke made this known during an appearance on News Central, a program monitored by StarNigeria.com.
In his statement, Hon Adegoke emphasized that RT Hon Obasa presided over the plenary session despite the absence of some lawmakers who were on official assignments. He also addressed the recent issue of power outages in the Assembly chamber, describing it as a nationwide challenge unrelated to the House’s operations.
“The lack of electricity in the chamber is purely a Nigerian factor and has nothing to do with the business of the House, which Hon Obasa presided over efficiently,” Hon Adegoke stated. He further expressed disappointment in Hon Mojisola Miranda, accusing her of allowing herself to be used by politicians for selfish interests.
Hon Adegoke also hinted at underlying tensions within the House, attributing them to the ambitions of some older members. “Some of the old members of the House are driven by higher ambitions, which is fueling their emotions. However, very soon, everything will reveal itself fully,” he said.
The Special Assistant expressed confidence in the stability of the House under RT Hon Obasa’s leadership, noting that the Speaker’s return has brought a sense of normalcy and direction to the legislative body. He urged members to prioritize the interests of Lagosians over personal or political agendas.
As the Lagos State House of Assembly continues its legislative duties, all eyes remain on how the dynamics within the House will unfold in the coming weeks.
