Lagos, Nigeria – March 5, 2025

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has called on Lagosians and the Muslim Ummah to seize the opportunity of the holy month of Ramadan to offer special prayers for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. This appeal was made known by Hon. Niniola Adegoke, the Special Adviser on Youth and Special Duties to the Speaker, during an exclusive interview with StarNigeriaNews.com.

Hon. Adegoke emphasized that the Speaker believes the Ramadan period is a sacred time for reflection, spiritual growth, and supplication. He urged Muslims across Lagos and Nigeria to dedicate their prayers for divine guidance and blessings for the nation’s leaders, particularly President Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu, as they work tirelessly to address the challenges facing the country and the state.

“Rt. Hon. Obasa is deeply committed to the progress and development of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole. He sees this holy month as an opportunity for all of us to come together and pray for our leaders, who are working hard to ensure a better future for everyone,” Hon. Adegoke stated.

He further highlighted that the Speaker’s agenda remains focused on enacting legislation that will benefit Lagosians and improve their quality of life. “The Speaker is dedicated to putting in place laws and policies that will drive development, create opportunities, and address the needs of the people. This is why he is calling on everyone to use this period of Ramadan to pray for the success of our leaders and the prosperity of Lagos and Nigeria,” he added.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a time of fasting, prayer, and charity. It is considered a period of spiritual renewal and a time to seek Allah’s blessings for individuals, communities, and nations.

Hon. Adegoke also reiterated the importance of unity and collective responsibility during this period. “As we fast and pray, let us remember that our collective efforts and prayers can make a significant difference. Lagos and Nigeria need our support, and this is the time to come together for the greater good,” he said.

The call by Rt. Hon. Obasa has been widely welcomed by religious and community leaders, who have praised the Speaker for his commitment to the welfare of the people and his recognition of the power of prayer in nation-building.

As Lagosians and Nigerians join millions of Muslims around the world to observe Ramadan, the message from the Lagos State House of Assembly is clear: this holy month is not only a time for personal reflection but also an opportunity to seek divine intervention for the success of the nation’s leaders and the prosperity of the country.
