The ancient town of Ejigbo in Osun State will play host to a grand celebration of Yoruba spirituality and heritage as Ijo Isese Asegun, situated at No. 64, Temidire Community Area, holds its annual Ajodun Ikore Festival on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

According to starnigerianews.com, the Ajodun Ikore Festival is a time of communal reflection, renewal, and thanksgiving, rooted in the age-old traditions of the Yoruba people. It is a sacred season set aside to appreciate life’s bountiful harvests, pay homage to the Orisa (divine forces), and celebrate the lasting legacy of Isese spirituality.

This year’s edition will combine spiritual rituals, traditional music, cultural parades, and artistic displays with the presentation of honorary awards to distinguished figures whose works have promoted and safeguarded Yoruba culture both locally and internationally.

Among the honorees are cultural advocates and spiritual leaders such as Bennyle, Tani Olorun, Afolabi Mokunfayo, Oro Yoruba, Atamatase, Kinniu Orumila, Akede Odua, Ewa Orisa, and Kijipa Oro. The recognition will also extend to notable Yoruba descendants in the diaspora, including Dr. Akanji Akinkunmi (Brazil), Seun Jegede (Australia), Olutayo Sowumi (Canada), Muritala Adebayo (United Kingdom), and Olumide Hassan (United States).

The festival chairman, Dr. Abdul Rasheed Adeoye (Omo Odo Agba), is a respected Yoruba scholar and cultural ambassador, while the host, Chief Johnson Oyeyode, the Olota of Ejigbo Land, continues to champion unity and development within the community.

In his message, Chief Oyeyode remarked that “Ajodun Ikore reminds us of our collective roots as Yoruba people — resilient, spiritual, and deeply connected to tradition. It is a celebration of harvest, peace, and progress.”

Organizers say the event is not merely a festivity but a reaffirmation of Yoruba identity, strengthening the bond between ancient wisdom and modern consciousness. The festival is expected to attract devotees, traditionalists, and culture enthusiasts from Nigeria and beyond.
