SDP Picks Arc. Goke Omigbodun, Oladigbo Oluwasogo for Osun Central, Obokun/Oriade Tickets.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Osun State has produced its candidates for the 2026 general elections following a consensus primary held on Saturday, 23rd May 2026, with Arc. Goke Omigbodun emerging as the party’s Senatorial Candidate for Osun Central Senatorial District, while Oladigbo Oluwasogo Olalekan secured the ticket for the Obokun/Oriade Federal House of Representatives seat.
The consensus arrangement, which party leaders described as peaceful and transparent, was reached during the party primary attended by delegates, stakeholders, and party faithful from across the state.
In an official statement released by the SDP Osun State Chapter, the party described the emergence of Arc. Goke Omigbodun as a reflection of its commitment to credible leadership, democratic values, and people-oriented governance.
Arc. Omigbodun, an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and the SDP Governorship Candidate in the 2022 Osun governorship election, was praised for his longstanding dedication to good governance, infrastructural development, youth empowerment, and social advancement.
Speaking after his emergence, Arc. Omigbodun appreciated the party leadership and delegates for the confidence reposed in him, promising to provide quality representation for the people of Osun Central Senatorial District.
“I am deeply honoured by this mandate. I assure the people of Osun Central that I will dedicate myself to quality representation, ensuring that our voices are heard and our needs are addressed effectively at the Senate,” he stated.
Similarly, Oladigbo Oluwasogo Olalekan emerged as the SDP candidate for the Obokun/Oriade House of Representatives seat. Olalekan, a respected media personality and member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), was commended by party stakeholders for his grassroots connection, communication expertise, and passion for youth and community development.
Party members at the primary expressed confidence that both candidates possess the experience, competence, and leadership qualities required to advance the interests of their constituents at the national level.
The Chairman SDP Osun State Hon Funsho Timothy Fabiyi called on members, supporters, and residents of Osun Central and Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency to unite behind all the candidates as preparations begin for the forthcoming general elections.
The party also assured the public that details of campaign activities and stakeholder engagements would be unveiled in the coming weeks.
