Baptist College of Theology, Benin City Set for 28th Graduation Ceremony as Dignitaries, Alumni Gather for Week-Long Celebration

Excitement is building at the Baptist College of Theology (BCT), Benin City, as the institution prepares to host its 28th Graduation Ceremony, a landmark event that will bring together church leaders, academics, alumni, parents, and distinguished guests from across Nigeria.

Starnigerianews.com gathered that the week-long graduation activities, organized by the college under the auspices of the Nigerian Baptist Convention and affiliated with the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso, as well as Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, commenced on Monday, June 8, 2026, and will culminate in a grand graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

According to the programme released by the institution, the celebrations began with a special photo session involving staff members and graduating students, marking the beginning of a memorable week for the graduating class.

A major spiritual highlight of the event is the Impartation Service scheduled for Wednesday, June 10, 2026, which will be led by renowned minister, Rev. Dr. Reuben Emegha. The service is expected to provide spiritual encouragement and blessings for the graduating students as they prepare for future ministry assignments and leadership responsibilities.

On Thursday, June 11, 2026, the college will host its annual Graduation Lecture and Award of Academic Excellence. The lecture will be delivered by Engr. Prof. Adagbonyin Moses Obiazi of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. Outstanding students who have distinguished themselves academically will also be recognized and rewarded during the event.

The celebration will continue on Friday, June 12, 2026, with a Senior Banquet at the College Chapel, providing an opportunity for graduating students, faculty members, and guests to reflect on their academic journey and celebrate achievements.

The grand finale is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Edo State Baptist Conference Multipurpose Hall, Benin City, where certificates will be formally presented to graduating students in the presence of family members, church leaders, and invited guests.

Adding prestige to the occasion is the participation of Sir (Chief) Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom, who will serve as the Father of the Day.

Also expected at the ceremony is Rev. Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji, the outgoing President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention and Visitor to the College, who will attend as the Special Guest of Honour.

The leadership of Baptist College of Theology, Benin City, has extended a warm invitation to alumni, Baptist faithful, church leaders, parents, friends, and well-wishers to join in celebrating the achievements of the graduating students and the continued growth of the institution.

The invitation was jointly endorsed by Hon. Justice Helen Courage A. Courage-Ogbebor, Chairperson of the BCT Benin Board of Governors; Rev. Samuel Olu Akintola, PhD, Rector; and Rev. Emmanuel Ehizie, Acting Registrar.

Speaking on behalf of the institution, College Public Relations Officer, God’spower C. Uchejim, described the 28th Graduation Ceremony as a significant milestone in the history of the college and a celebration of academic excellence, spiritual formation, and ministerial preparation.

The event is expected to further reinforce the college’s commitment to raising competent Christian leaders equipped to serve both the Church and society.
