The National Rescue Movement (NRM) gubernatorial candidate for Ogun State in the 2027 election, Chief Amb. Olujobi Ezekiel Fayoyin, has unveiled an ambitious development agenda focused on food security, youth empowerment, accessible healthcare and responsible governance.
Fayoyin made his position known while featuring on TungbaFM’s weekly political magazine programme, Politics Naija, where he discussed his mission, vision and plans for transforming Ogun State if elected governor in 2027.
The NRM candidate said his administration would prioritise mass food production as a major strategy for tackling hunger, creating employment and strengthening the state’s economy. According to him, Ogun State has the land, human resources and entrepreneurial capacity required to become a major food-producing hub if properly harnessed.
He also placed strong emphasis on the youth population, stressing the need to move beyond political promises and provide practical opportunities through skills development, employment, entrepreneurship and productive engagement.
Fayoyin said his administration would also pursue a healthcare system that guarantees access to quality medical services for residents, with a particular focus on establishing health insurance coverage for all citizens of Ogun State.
According to him, healthcare should not be treated as a privilege for those who can afford it but as an essential component of good governance and human development.
The NRM candidate further called for a new culture of responsible, accountable and people-oriented governance, arguing that elected leaders must be judged by their ability to improve the lives of citizens rather than by political rhetoric.
He also used the programme to appeal to voters across Ogun State to reject the practice of collecting money from politicians in exchange for their votes.
Fayoyin cautioned that while financial inducements may provide temporary benefits, they ultimately undermine the ability of citizens to demand accountability from elected officials.
He urged voters to look beyond immediate monetary offers and carefully examine the competence, character, vision and development plans of candidates before making their choices at the polls.
The gubernatorial candidate said the National Rescue Movement provides Ogun voters with a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 election, describing the party as an opportunity for citizens to demand a new direction and leadership centred on the welfare of the people.
Fayoyin maintained that the future of Ogun State depends on the collective decision of its citizens to choose leaders who understand the challenges facing the state and are prepared to provide practical solutions.
He therefore called on residents, particularly young people, professionals, farmers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders, to actively participate in the political process and support leadership that prioritises development, accountability and inclusive governance.
As the 2027 political season gradually gathers momentum, Fayoyin’s message on Politics Naija centred on what he described as the need for a government that feeds its people, empowers its youth, protects their health and remains accountable to the electorate.
