CIPM and CIPD Launch Mutual Recognition of Membership: A New Era for HR Professionals

Today marks a significant milestone for the Human Resources community as the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) officially launched the CIPM-CIPD Mutual Recognition of Membership. The virtual event was attended by key figures in the HR sector, including Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, President and Chairman of the Governing Council; Mrs. Chidinma Justina Obiejesi, Vice President; Mrs. Ogochukwu Egbuonu, National Treasurer; and Ms. Oluwatoyin Naiwo, Registrar/Chief Executive. The Immediate Past President, Mr. Olusegun Mojeed, was also present.

The event, monitored by StarNigeriaNews.com, featured a goodwill message delivered by Mr. Oli Howard from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) on behalf of Chief Executive Peter Cheese, emphasizing the international significance of this collaboration.

This partnership allows CIPM members to achieve CIPD membership, and vice versa, at the same level of membership cadre with global recognition. It opens doors to new career opportunities and access to wider networks and resources, while also providing enhanced professional development through exclusive learning and certification pathways.

“This is more than just a partnership; it’s a step towards global HR leadership,” said Mallam Gobir during his opening remarks. He explained that the required fees for CIPM members wishing to become CIPD members are less than £500 for the Associate cadre and less than £1,000 for the Fellowship cadre.

The event also included goodwill messages from notable CIPM stakeholders, including Prof. Funke Amobi, FCIPM, Chair of the Research and Publication Committee; the CIPM UK Branch Chair; and the IP Vice President. A highlight was the media interaction session, where journalists posed questions regarding the implications of this groundbreaking collaboration.

As the HR community moves forward, this mutual recognition is expected to foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous professional growth among members.
