First-time marathoner battles rain, pain, and exhaustion to join the elite 1% of global finishers.

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – May 19, 2025 – In a display of sheer determination, Simeon Oladele etched his name into the annals of personal triumph by completing his first-ever marathon at the grueling Trinidad and Tobago Midnight Marathon on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Organized by Bafasports, the 42-kilometer (26.2-mile) race tested Oladele’s physical and mental limits, but he crossed the finish line after 6 hours and 26 minutes, joining the elite 1% of the world’s population to achieve such a feat.

A Journey of Grit and Faith
Oladele’s marathon journey began in March 2025 with a midnight 10K run, followed by a half-marathon (21K) in April. But the ultimate challenge came under torrential rain on race night, where he battled cramps, a strained knee, and excruciating pain from the halfway mark.

“I didn’t run to compete with anyone—I ran to finish,” Oladele declared. “I jogged, walked, limped, and even crawled. My goal was simple: cross that line, no matter how long it took.”

Defying the Elements
The marathon turned into a war of attrition as heavy downpours drenched runners for over three hours. Many might have quit, but Oladele drew strength from his faith and memories of his late mother, whom he believed was cheering him on from heaven.

“Even if I had to finish alone in 10 hours, I was determined to conquer this,” he said. His perseverance paid off as he staggered across the finish line, arms raised in victory, dedicating his achievement to God.
A Message of Inspiration
Quoting scriptures like *Matthew 11:12 (“The kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force”) and 2 Timothy 4:7 (“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race”), Oladele framed his marathon as a metaphor for life’s struggles.

“Your life is your message to the world—make sure it’s inspiring,” he said. “Don’t give up. If I can do this, anyone can.”

Gratitude and Celebration
Oladele extended thanks to supporters, including @Chummy, Bafasports, Caribbean Runners, and friends who stood by him. His story has since ignited motivation among aspiring runners, proving that resilience trumps adversity.

As he proudly declared: “I came, I saw, I conquered. I am more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus.”
