Abuja, Nigeria — November 3, 2025
The Nigerian Army has announced the assumption of duty of Major General Sinyinah Nicodemus as the 8th Executive Director (ED) of the Nigerian Army Farms and Ranches Limited (NAFARL).
According to a statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Nigerian Army, the new appointment took effect following a brief but impressive handover ceremony held at the NAFARL Headquarters in Abuja. The event marked the formal transfer of leadership from the outgoing Executive Director, Major General Olaniyi Michael Dare, to Major General Nicodemus.
The Army’s statement revealed that the handover was part of recent redeployments of senior officers, which followed the appointment of new Service Chiefs.
In his farewell address, Major General Dare expressed gratitude to God for a successful and fulfilling military career. He appreciated officers, soldiers, and civilian staff of NAFARL for their unwavering support during his tenure and urged them to extend the same level of dedication to his successor.
In his remarks after assuming office, Major General Nicodemus thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for the trust and confidence reposed in him. He commended the contributions of his predecessor and pledged to build on existing achievements to advance NAFARL’s mandate in promoting food security.
> “Food security is a national project we should be able to realise,” Major General Nicodemus was quoted as saying on the Army’s official page.
The Army also highlighted that Major General Nicodemus brings a rich blend of military experience and academic qualifications to his new role. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, two Master’s degrees in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice and Security and Strategic Studies, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Defence and Security Studies.
Before his appointment, he served as the Director, Lessons Learnt, at the Army Headquarters Department of Army Transformation and Innovation.
Highlights of the ceremony included the signing of the handover notes, the presentation of the command flag, a guided tour of the farm facilities, and a group photograph to commemorate the leadership transition.
The statement was signed by Captain Christopher Agu, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, and dated 3 November 2025.
