Tungba FM Chairman Congratulates Ola Awakan on Appointment as DG, NTDC

Lagos — The Chairman of Tungba FM, Prince Gbolahan Odo, has felicitated with Olayiwola Nurudeen Awakan on his appointment as the new Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement signed by the Group Program Manager of Tungba FM Nigeria, Oladigbo Olalekan Efficient, Prince Gbolahan described Awakan’s appointment as a reflection of merit, professionalism, and dedication to service. He noted that the new NTDC helmsman has carved a niche for himself as a seasoned journalist and an award-winning thespian whose career trajectory has been marked by excellence and commitment to nation-building.

According to the statement, Awakan’s appointment did not come as a surprise to those who have followed his career path, as he has consistently demonstrated passion, creativity, and leadership both in the media and the arts. Prince Gbolahan expressed confidence that Awakan will deploy his wealth of experience and vision to reposition Nigeria’s tourism industry as a major driver of economic diversification, job creation, and cultural promotion.

“His appointment is indeed well-deserved. Ola Awakan has shown his mark as a thorough professional whose talent and hard work speak for themselves. We at Tungba FM celebrate this milestone achievement and we pray that God will grant him the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to perform exceptionally in this new assignment,” the statement read in part.

Prince Gbolahan also commended President Bola Tinubu for his foresight in entrusting Awakan with such a strategic national assignment. He said the appointment underscores the President’s commitment to strengthening critical sectors and institutions that hold the potential to transform the nation’s economy and global image.

He further urged Awakan to see his new role as a call to service, particularly in harnessing Nigeria’s vast tourism resources, cultural heritage, and creative industries for national development and international recognition.

The appointment of Awakan, which took effect on September 2, 2025, is for an initial term of four year.
